Geoffrey Franceys Cranswick (10 April 1894 – 19 July 1978) was the Bishop of Tasmania〔(National Archives )〕 from 1944 to 1963.〔"Ecclesiastical News: New Bishop Of Tasmania", ''The Times'' 20 October 1943; p.7〕 Cranswick was educated at The King's School, Parramatta, Sydney Church of England Grammar School and the University of Sydney. He was ordained in 1920 and was a curate at West Ham before being with the Church Mission Society (CMS)〔(Catalogue of the papers of the Overseas Division )〕〔(National Church Institutions Database of Manuscripts and Archives )〕 in Bengal to 1937〔Crockford's Clerical Directory1940-41 Oxford, OUP,1941〕 and then Principal of King Edward's School Chapra〔“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007 ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 until his ordination to the episcopate.
